He stated facts about how the climate change, environmental degradation, deforestation and like are taking place and how the responsible people haven’t taken actions to avoid or restore the problems they have created. “The sea level will rise upto 6mmte high due the the melting of ice and this will lead to the submerging of places like Kerala west Bengal and a few more similar places”, says the Professor as he talks about the outcomes of careless actions of all the individuals and the government and the ‘big corporations’.
Addressing about the traditional methods of conservations of food, water and other natural resources, he talks about how, in India, we have lost so many old and traditional methods of conservation in places like Jaipur (Rajasthan), which, if practiced could have helped in many ways. “A few individuals here and there are practicing and using traditional systems, but on a national level, it is a ‘no’”. Talking about the roles of individuals in saving the world from undergoing into a disaster, Prof. N H Ravindranath says, “Every individual matters, but, The Government, Big Corporation, Huge Institutions have to take a big step to deal with climate change. Each of us also need to have a behavioral change.
“Let’s be honest the future is bleak”, he said. The opportunity to take a stand and change this scenario is always upto the individuals but, Prof. Ravindranath, being as truthful he can, said, “we have missed the bus”.
