The inaugural ceremony of the 7th edition of the Mangaluru Literature Festival was held at T.M.A. Pai Auditorium in Mangaluru on 11th Jan 2025.
Renowned author S.L. Bhyrappa and Dr. Ravi, Secretary, Mythic Society, graced the stage as chief guests. Sunil Kulkarni, Trustee, Bharat Foundation Trust, delivered the welcome speech. The festival commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
As part of the program, a tribute was paid to the late Norbert D’Souza, who had made significant contributions to Kannada literature.
S.L. Bhyrappa, recalling his participation in the festival for the first time in 2017, highlighted how Dakshina Kannada district has set an example for the nation in various fields including education. He appreciated the organisers of this fest for inviting achievers from across the country and organizing discussions on diverse platforms.
He posed reflective questions: “Are the topics discussed at the festival reaching the right audience? Are they achieving the intended impact?” He emphasized the importance of self-confidence in providing convincing answers to such questions.
He commended the Mangaluru Literature Festival for maintaining its freshness and achieving its objectives year after year without falling into a routine.
Dr. Ravi shared his thoughts with the audience, emphasizing the uniqueness of the Mangaluru Literature Festival compared to other literary festivals in the country. He opined that the topics discussed at this festival have the potential to influence future generations profoundly.
7ನೇ ವರ್ಷದ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಸವದ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಸಮಾರಂಭ
7ನೇ ವರ್ಷದಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಸವದ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಟಿ.ಎಂ.ಎ. ಪೈ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ನಡೆಯಿತು.
ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಲೇಖಕ ಎಸ್.ಎಲ್. ಭೈರಪ್ಪ ಮತ್ತು ಮಿಥಿಕ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯ ಗೌರವ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಡಾ. ರವಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ವೇದಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕರಿಸಿದರು. ಭಾರತ್ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್‌ನ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿ ಸುನಿಲ್ ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಭಾಷಣ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದರು. ದೀಪ ಬೆಳಗುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಉತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ದಿವಂಗತ ನಾರ್ಬರ್ಟ್ ಡಿಸೋಜ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನುಡಿನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಎಸ್.ಎಲ್. ಭೈರಪ್ಪ ಅವರು 2018 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಈ ಉತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ನೆನಪಿನ ಕುರಿತಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾದರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಉತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತದ ಸಾಧಕರನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿ, ವಿವಿಧ ವೇದಿಕೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಚರ್ಚೆ ಮಂಟಪಗಳನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿಸಿದರು.
ಅವರು ಉತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಬೇಕಾದವರಿಗೆ ತಲುಪುತ್ತಿವೆಯೆ? ನೀವು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿರುವ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆಯೆ? ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಥ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡುವ ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಅತ್ಯಗತ್ಯವೆಂದರು.
ಆದರೆ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಸವವು ಯಾಂತ್ರಿಕತೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕದೆ, ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಸತನವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಅವರು ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
ಡಾ. ರವಿ ಅವರು ಸಭಿಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು, ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ದೇಶದ ಇತರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಸವಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ವಿಶೇಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಈ ಉತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚೆಯಾಗುವ ವಿಚಾರಗಳು ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಭಾವಿತಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಶಕ್ತವಾಗಿರುವಂತಹವು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
