ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ ಜನವರಿ 12 ರಂದು ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಡಾ. ಅಜಕ್ಕಳ ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಭಟ್ ರವರು ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಶತಾವಧಾನಿ ಡಾ. ಆರ್. ಗಣೇಶ್ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಅವಧಾನ ಕಲೆಯ ನಿಪುಣರು, ಬಹುಭಾಷಾ ಪಂಡಿತರು, ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ-ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೆಸರು ಗಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಕ್ಷಣದ ಕಾವ್ಯ ರಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಲವು ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಅವರ ಪಾಂಡಿತ್ಯವು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆಗೆ ಪಾತ್ರವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಭಾಷಣದ ವೇಳೆ, ಡಾ. ಗಣೇಶ್ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲೆಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಆಳವಾದ ಚಿಂತನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. “ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲೆಗಳ ಮೌಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಕವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅದು ಸಾರ್ಥಕವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸಂಗೀತವು ತನ್ನ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆಯನ್ನು ಇಂದು ಕೂಡ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದು ಇದರ ಬೆಂಬಲವೇ ಆಗಿದೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಅವರು ’ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ’, ’ಧರ್ಮ’, ಮತ್ತು ’ರಸ’ ಎಂಬ ಭಾರತೀಯ ತತ್ತ್ವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಮೂರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ತತ್ತ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಉದಾಹರಿಸಿ, ರಸದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. “ರಸವೇ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲೆಗಳ ಜೀವಾಳ. ಇದು ಸೌಹಾರ್ದತೆಯ ಮೂಲವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನಮ್ಮ ಕಲಾ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಆಧಾರಶಿಲೆ,” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದರು.

ಇದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಜನವರಿ 11 ಮತ್ತು 12, ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳು ನಡೆದ ಈ 7ನೇ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯೋತ್ಸವವು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಾಸಕ್ತರು, ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರು, ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಾ ಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಮರೆಯಲಾಗದ ಅನುಭವವಾಯಿತು.

7th Edition of Mangalore Lit Fest Concludes with Valedictory Program

The 7th edition of the Mangalore Literature Festival (MLRLitFest 2025) concluded on a high note with a valedictory program on January 12, marking the end of the two-day event held on January 11 and 12.

The program featured Shatavadhani Dr. R. Ganesh, a distinguished practitioner of the ancient art of Avadhana, a polyglot, and an acclaimed author in Sanskrit and Kannada. Known for his extempore poetry in multiple languages, Dr. Ganesh delivered the valedictory address, moderated by Dr. Ajakkala Girish Bhat.

In his address, Dr. R. Ganesh emphasized the enduring value of literature and art, stating, “Value is realized when it is utilized purposefully and appreciated thoughtfully. If consumed superficially, its essence diminishes. This is why classical music, with its timeless essence, continues to hold its high value. Its uniqueness remains intact.”

He further highlighted the significance of the Indian philosophical approach to literature and art, encapsulated in three profound words—Brahma, Dharma, and Rasa. “Rasa,” he explained, “is the source of harmony, forming the foundation of all art forms and literature.”

The Mangalore Literature Festival 2025 once again succeeded in bringing together literary enthusiasts, scholars, and cultural icons to celebrate the richness of literature and foster meaningful discussions.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷೆಗಳ ಪಾತ್ರ, ಭಾರತದ ಭಾಷಾತ್ಮಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪ್ರಾತಿನಿಧ್ಯತೆಯ ರೂಪಚೇತನೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಶತಮಾನಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷೆಗಳು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಕಾಪಾಡಿ-ಅಭಿವೃದ್ದಿಗೊಳಿಸಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಡಾ. ಜಿ.ಬಿ. ಹರೀಶ್, ಭಾಷೆ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭೂಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಅಂತರಂಗ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಲೂ ಸಂಘರ್ಷಗಳು ಉದ್ಭವಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಶಿವಾಜಿ ಗಣೇಶ್ ಾವರ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕತೆ ಹೇಗೆ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಸುದ್ದಿ ಅಥವಾ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.

ಡಾ. ಹೆಚ್.ಆರ್. ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಏಕೀಕರಣದ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲಿ, ಇದು ದೇಶದ ಭಾಷಾ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಒಂದು ಅತಿದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಘಟಕ ತಂತುವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. ಭಾರತದ ಭಾಷಾ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಪರಂಪರೆ ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತವು ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಾಂತ ಇರುವ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತವಾಗಿಸಿದೆ. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷೆಗಳು ಭಾರತದ ಭಾಷಾ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಲು ಮತ್ತು ಒಗ್ಗಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಹೇಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂಬುದರ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಕ್ಷಮಾ ನರಗುಂದ ರವರು ಸಂವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

Harish, a writer and journalist, and Dr. H.R. Vishwas, a noted Kannada and Sanskrit scholar. The discussion was moderated by Kshama Nargund.

The speakers explored the role of regional languages in shaping the linguistic and cultural identity of India, emphasizing how vernacular languages have preserved and enriched Indian traditions over centuries. Dr. G.B. Harish highlighted the intrinsic link between language, culture, and geography, arguing that these elements form the foundation of rationality and identity. He noted, “Conflicts often arise from localized narratives, as news and discussions seldom transcend geographical boundaries. This limits the scope for broader dialogues or debates across regions.”

Dr. H.R. Vishwas shed light on the unifying role of Sanskrit, describing it as a linguistic thread binding the nation despite its linguistic diversity. He remarked, “India’s multiplicity of languages reflects its rich heritage, yet Sanskrit remains a unique constant across the country. While words might remain consistent, their meanings can change across different regions and contexts.”

The session emphasized the importance of vernacular languages in preserving India’s linguistic heritage while fostering a sense of unity amidst diversity. It also underscored the challenges of ensuring cross-regional dialogue and understanding in a linguistically diverse nation like India.

The audience appreciated the session for its insightful perspectives on vernacularity’s contribution to India’s linguistic and cultural legacy.

ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕವಿಗಳ ಸಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು ರವೀಂದ್ರ ನಾಯಕ್ ಸಣ್ಣಕ್ಕಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟು ಅವರು ಸಮಕಾಲೀನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಕವಿ. ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಯಶಸ್ಸನ್ನ ಪಡೆದಂತಹ ಕವಿ, ಮುಸುಕು ತೆರೆದು, ತೂಗು ದೀಪ,‌ ಇರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವ ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದೆ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಈ ಕವನ ಸಂಕಲನಗಳನ್ನ ವಿರಚಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನೆಮ್ಮದಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದೆ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ, ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಭಾವಗೀತೆಗಳ ಸಂಕಲನ, ಶರದಿಗೆ ಆಕಾಶ ಬುಟ್ಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಒಲವ ಶ್ರಾವಣ ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಮೂರು ಭಾವಗೀತೆಗಳ ಧ್ವನಿ ಸುರುಳಿ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇವರ 50 ಭಾವಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನ YouTube ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಬಹುದು. ಅವರದೇ ಹೆಸರಿನ YouTube ಚಾನಲ್. ಅವರ ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಹಾಡುಗಾರರು ಗಣೇಶ ದೇಸಾಯಿ, ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ವೀಜಯಡಿ, ಸುಪ್ರಿಯ ಅರು ನಂದನ್, ಎಂಡಿ ಪಲ್ಲವಿ, ರಘು ದೀಕ್ಷಿತ್ ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನ ಹಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರದ್ದೇ ಒಂದು ತಂಡವು ಕೂಡ ಇದೆ. ಕಿಟಕಿಗಳ ಆಚೆ ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಲಲಿತ ಪ್ರಭಂಧ ಸಂಕಲನವನ್ನ ಕೂಡ ಅವರು ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಾಸಂಸಿ ಜೀರ್ಣಾನಿ ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಮರಾಠಿ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನ ಕೊಂಕಣಿಗೆ ಅನುವಾದ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಚರಣ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ ಚಿತ್ರ ಅಂಚೆ ಸಂಸಾರ, ಲೈಟ್‌ಹೌಸ್ ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಎರಡು ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಲಾ ಮೂರು ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನ ಇವರು ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 2014 ರ ಮಹಾಸಾರಿನ ಮೈಸೂರು ದಸರಾ ಕವಿಗೋಷ್ಠಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಅನೇಕ ಕವಿಗೋಷ್ಠಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸತೀಶ್ ಹೆಗಡೆ ಶಿರಸಿ, ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಶಿರಸಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಹುಣಸಿ ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಎಂಬ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯವರು. ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಪದವಿಪೂರ್ವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರಿಂಗ್ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಿರಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದು, ಸಾಫ್ಟ್ವೇರ್ ಕಂಪನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಸಂಗೀತ ಕಲಾ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಶತಾವಧಾನಿ ಗಣೇಶ ಅವರಿಂದ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನ ಪಡೆದು ಛಂದೋಲಯ ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನ ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಛಂದೋಲಯ ಪದ್ಯಗಳ ಶೃಂಗಾರ ಶರದಿ ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಅನ್ನ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸ್ಮಿತಾ ಅಮೃತರಾಜ, ಲಲಿತ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದಲಿತ ಪ್ರಬಂಧ, ಕವನ ಸಂಕಲನ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಒಟ್ಟು ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಪ್ರಕಟಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಕಾಲ ಕಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ತುಟಿ ಎಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದ ಕವಿತೆಗಳು, ಮಾತು ಮೀಟಿ ಹೋಗುವುದು, ಅವರೇ ಚಪ್ಪರದ ಹಾಡು ಇವು ಅವರ ಕವನ ಸಂಕಲನಗಳು. ಅಂಗಲ ದಂಚಿನ ಕನವರಿಗೆಗಳು, ಒಂದು ವಿಳಾಸದ ಹಿಂದೆ, ನೆಲದಾಯ ಪರಿಮಳ ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಮೂರು ಲಲಿತ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೊತ್ತಗೆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅನ್ನುವಂತಹ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಪರಿಚಯವನ್ನ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ರವೀಂದ್ರ ನಾಯಕ್ ಅವರು ಕಾವ್ಯ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಬುದ್ಧಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಹೃದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟದ್ದು. ಕಾವ್ಯ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಕೂಡ ಹಾಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಅನೂಹ್ಯ ವಿಸ್ಮಯವಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ಕಾಣುವಂತದ್ದು, ಬಹಳ ಆಪ್ತವಾಗಿರುವಂತದ್ದು, ಏಕಾಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟುವಂತ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ. ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಬಹಳ ಖಾಸಗಿಯಾಗಿರುವಂತ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಅಂತ ಅಂದುಕೊಳ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಇದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಕವಿತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿದ ರವೀಂದ್ರ ಸ್ವಾರಸ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಮುರಳಿಯ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಧೆಯ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ದಕ್ಕುವುದೆಂದರೆ ಯಾರು ನಂಬುವ ಮಾತಲ್ಲ. ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ಈ ಮೋಹದ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೊಲ್ಲನೊಬ್ಬ ಕೃಷ್ಣನಾಗುವುದೆಂದರೆ ಅದು ಅಷ್ಟು ಸುಲಭದ ಮಾತಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.

ಸತೀಶ್ ಹೆಗಡೆ ಶಿರಸಿ, ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಿತ್ಯಂತರ ಕಾಲಗಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ತಲೆಮಾರು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಯ್ತು. ಮಲೆನಾಡಿನ ಸತ್ಯ ವರ್ತಮಾನದ ಜಂಜಾಟ ಏನು ಎಂದು ಇವರು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ಅರ್ತಿರುವವರು. ಬಹುತೇಕ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಹೇಗೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಗ್ರಾಮವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು ಶಹರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಂತಹ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯ್ತು. ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಹೇಗೆ ದಶರಥನಿಗೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಜನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಾಯುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬರು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಈ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನ ನೋಡಿ ಈ ಪದ್ಯ ಹುಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.ಇಂತಹ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಇವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕವಿತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಷಾದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ನಂತರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಸ್ಮಿತಾ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನ ಸಾದಾ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ಅನಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಅತ್ತ ನಾಮಕರಣ, ಮದುವೆ – ಇ?ರಲ್ಲೇ ಜೀವನ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಭಾಸವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ, ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಮನಸ್ಸಾಯಿತು. ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ತೊಡಗಿದರು. ಬರಹ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದಾಗ ಜನರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಅದರಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನಿಜವಾದ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವ ಸಿಕ್ಕಂತಾಯಿತು. ಪೆರಾಜೆ ಎಂಬ ಕೊಡಗಿನ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಮೂಲದಿಂದ ಈ ದಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಅವರ ಅಕ್ಷರದ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಿಂದ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ನಂತರ ತಮ್ಮ ಕವಿತೆ ಓದಿದ ಇವರು ಅದರ ಆಶಾಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸಾಯುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗ ನಮಗೆ ಭೌತಿಕವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಏನು ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೋ ಆ ಸಾಯುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಬಹುಶಃ ಈ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಸಂವೇದನಾಶೀಲ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಒಳಗೆ ಅವನದೇ ಆದಂತಹ ಒಂದು ಸಾಯುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗ, ನಿರ್ವಾತವಾದಂತ ಒಂದು ಏಕಾಂತ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇದ್ದೇ ಇದ್ದ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ್ದನ್ನ ದಕ್ಕದ್ದನ್ನ ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ ಪಡೆಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗಬಹುದು. ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ತುಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು, ತುಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಬರೆದಾಗಬಹುದು. ಇದು ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕಾಣುವಂತದ್ದಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನ ನಾವು ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಅಂತ ತಮಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಇದರ ನಂತರ ಗೋಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕವಿಗಳು ನೆರೆದಿದಂತಹ ಯುವಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೋತ್ತರ ಕಲಾಪವನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡರು.ಇಂದು ಹಲವಾರು ಯುವ ಲೇಖಕರು ಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾದರು.

The event was moderated by Guruprasad T.N. Among the poets on the stage was Ravindra Nayak Sannakki Betu, a contemporary poet. Already a successful poet, he continues to write poetry collections such as “Musuku Teredu” and “Thogu Deepa,” reflecting themes like peace and the essence of life. His poetry collections, including “Nemmadi Sikkide Badukige,” “Bhavagitegalu Sankalana,” “Sharadige Akasha Butti,” and “Olava Shravan,” are notable. You can listen to his 50 devotional songs on his YouTube channel. Popular singers like Ganesh Desai, Raghavendra Vijayadi, Supriya Arunandhan, M.D. Pallavi, and Raghu Dikshit have sung his songs. He also has his own band. He has written a collection of literary essays titled “Kitakigala Aache,” and translated the Marathi play “Vasanasi Jirnani” into Konkani. He has written three songs in each of the films “Charan Chitrapad,” “Konkani Chitra Anche Sansar,” and “Lighthouse.” He participates in numerous state-level poetry events, including the 2014 Mahasarina Mysore Dasara Kavigoshti.

Satish Hegde Shirsi is from the village of Hunasi Makke in the Shirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district. He completed his pre-university education in Mangalore and his engineering degree in Bangalore. While residing in Shirsi, he worked for a software company. His literary and musical talents are influenced by the inspiration he received from Shatavadhani Ganesh. He writes Chandolaya poetry and has authored a book titled Chandolaya Padyagalu: Shringar Sharadi.

Smita Amrutaraj has been engaged in literature, especially in the field of literary essays. She has published a total of nine books, including Dalit essays and poetry collections. Some of her poetry collections are Kaala Kaayuvudilla, Tuti Enchinda Ulida Kavithegale, Maathu Meethi Hoooguvudu, and Avarae Chapparada Haadu. She has also written three literary essays, Angala Danchina Kanavarigale, Ondu Vilasada Hinde, and Neladaya Parimala. Additionally, she has authored a book titled Hottage Hottu.

Ravindra Nayak, who spoke first at the event, shared that poetry is more related to the heart than the mind. The creation of poetry is often a mysterious and astonishing process, something deeply personal and born in solitude. He believes it is a highly private process.

long with this, Ravindra read several poems, sharing that capturing the essence of Murali’s soul and Radha’s love with harmony is not an easy task. He explained that in this world of enchantment, for a mere cowherd to become Krishna is not as simple as it seems.

Satish Hegde Shirsi, a representative of the changing times in the Malenadu region, spoke about how deeply familiar he is with the contemporary struggles of the area. He noted that in our country, when we observe the shifting environment, we see that people are increasingly abandoning villages and migrating to cities. He compared this to the situation of King Dasharatha, who had four sons, but one was missing at the time of his old age. This situation in rural areas prompted the creation of a poem reflecting these changes. Satish Hegde expressed his sorrow about the conditions in the villages through his poetry.

Smita, who spoke next, shared that she once felt her life was limited to events like naming ceremonies and marriage. It seemed as though life would remain confined to these moments. However, over time, she realized that interest and practice were necessary. She began to identify herself through writing, and when her articles were published in newspapers, people began to recognize her. This recognition gave her a sense of true existence. She believes that her participation in events today, coming from a small village called Peraje in Coorg, is made possible through her efforts in writing.

She then read a poem and explained its meaning. She shared that the “empty space” she refers to is not the physical emptiness we see with our eyes. Rather, it is an inner space within every sensitive, subtle mind—an isolated, quiet place where one can find whatever is needed, take what they want, and fill it with anything. It is not something visible to the eyes; it is a process that keeps us alive, a personal experience that allows us to fill and express ourselves through writing.

Following this, the poets at the event engaged in a Q&A session with the young attendees, which inspired many young writers.

The 7th edition of the Mangalore Literature Festival featured a thought-provoking session on the theme “From Individual to Indivisible.” The discussion explored the transformation of the self through wisdom, culture, and consciousness.

The session featured poet and advisor at Chanakya University, Satyesh Bellur, and Swami Mahamedhananda, a sannyasi of the Ramakrishna Math and editor of Vedanta Kesari. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Shankar Rajaraman, a psychiatrist, poet, and expert in poetic forms.

Satyesh Bellur emphasized the importance of character development as a reflection of one’s personality. He noted, “Personality is a set of qualities that help grow character. Even if a person has studied all four Vedas but fails to understand themselves, it is of no use.”

He highlighted the balance between specialization and general knowledge, stating, “Instead of being the jack of all trades and master of none, aim to be the jack of all and master of one. Understand other areas while excelling in your own.”

Bellur also discussed the shift from hard work to smart work and the significance of knowledge. “If you are a knowledgeable person, there is no concept of foreign language. Diplomacy for me, is about telling the truth,” he remarked.

Swami Mahamedhananda reflected on the journey from individuality to unity, urging the audience to recognize the interconnectedness of existence. “The ocean represents consciousness, and waves are energy. Everything we see is energy—there is no distinction between living and non-living. It is all a question of manifestation,” he explained.

Quoting Shri Krishna, Swami Mahamedhananda said, “Only those whose minds are awakened can truly be called human.” He encouraged the audience to transcend selfishness, ego, and laziness, envisioning a life free from the constraints of identity.

“The challenge arises when people are trapped by their identity. When that identity changes, they struggle to accept themselves,” he added.

The session highlighted the importance of self-awareness, mastery, and transcending ego to achieve a state of indivisibility. Through a blend of modern insights and ancient wisdom, the speakers inspired the audience to seek purpose and unity in their personal and collective journeys.

The discussion resonated deeply with the audience, leaving them with much to reflect upon about the essence of life and the path to transformation.

ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯೇಶ್ ಬೆಳ್ಳೂರವರು ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಭಾವವು ಹೇಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀಳುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಎಲ್ಲ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರಬೇಕು ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಪುಣರಾಗಿರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿಶಾಲಿ, ಅಸ್ತ್ರವಾಗಬೇಕು ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವು 4 ವಿಷಯಗಳಿಂದ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವು – ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ, ವಿದ್ಯೆ, ಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾತು.

ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮಹಾಮೇಧಾನಂದರವರು ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹಾಗು ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮರ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ’ಯಾರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಪ್ರಬುದ್ಧವಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೋ, ಅಂಥವರೇ ನಿಜವಾದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು’ ಎಂದರು. ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥ, ಅಹಂಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸೋಮಾರಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಅಖಂಡತೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದರು.ಈ ಚರ್ಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬನೆ, ಅಹಂಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ನೈಪುಣ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಬದುಕಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿತು.

ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಉತ್ಸವದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಕ್ವಿಜ್ ಫೈನಲ್ಸ್ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ಲತೇಶ್ ಬಕ್ರಬೈಲ್ ಅವರ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಈ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯು ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಕುರಿತು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಒಂದು ವೇದಿಕೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಈ ಕ್ವಿಜ್ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 12 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು 6 ತಂಡಗಳಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸುತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಈ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ವಿ?ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮೊದಲ ಸುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು, ಎರಡನೇ ಸುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರ‍್ಯಾಪಿಡ್ ಫೈರ್, ಮೂರನೇ ಸುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡಿಯೋ ಮತ್ತು ಫೋಟೋ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ಸುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೇರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು ಇದ್ದವು.

ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ತೆಂಕನಿಡಿಯೂರಿನ ವಿಠ್ಠಲ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃಷ್ಣ  ಪ್ರಥಮ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದರು.

ಬೆಳ್ತಂಗಡಿಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ದುರ್ಗೇಶ್ ಮತ್ತು ರಕ್ಷಿತ್ ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದರು.

ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಎಸ್.ವಿ.ಪಿ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಅಂಕಿತ ಪಿ.ಸಿ. ಮತ್ತು ಮಲ್ಲಪ್ಪ ಕುರುಬರ್ ತೃತೀಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದರು.

The quiz finals, hosted by journalist Lathesh Bakrabali, witnessed a thrilling battle of wits among six teams. The competition, divided into four rounds, tested the participants’ knowledge of Indian literature. The rounds included multiple-choice questions, rapid-fire queries, audio and photo identification, and direct questions. After a fierce contest, the winners were announced:

Vittala and Krishna, from Government First Grade College, Thenkanidiyur, Udupi, took home the first prize. Durgesh and Rakshith, from Government First Grade College, Betthangady, secured the second prize. Ankitha PC and Mallappa Kurubar, from S.V.P. Institute of Kannada Studies, Mangalore University, won the third prize. The quiz finals showcased the impressive literary knowledge of the participants, and the winners were congratulated on their outstanding performance.

ಮೂಲತಃ ಪೆರ್ಲ ಮೂಲದ ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪೈ ಅವರು ಕತೆ, ನಾಟಕ, ಪ್ರಬಂಧ, ಲೇಖನ, ಮತ್ತು ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆಯುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೀಣರು. ಇವರ ಕೆಲವು ಕೃತಿಗಳು – ತಿರುವು, ಈ ಬೆರಳ ಗುರುತು, ಹಾರುವ ಹಕ್ಕಿಯ ಗೂಡಿನ ದಾರಿ, ಮೊದಲಾದ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಕಥೆಗಳು. ಆಧುನಿಕ ಚೀನೀ ಸಣ್ಣಕಥೆಗಳು, ’ಪೆರ್ಲ ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ ಪೈ’ ರವರ ’ ಸ್ವಪ್ನ ಸಾರಸ್ವತ ’ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗೆ 2010 ರ ಸಾಲಿನ ’ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ’ ದೊರೆತಿದೆ.

ಇವರು ’ ಬಿಂಬ ಬಿಂಬನ ’ ಎಂಬ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಜನರು ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳನ್ನು ಮನೋರಂಜನೆಗಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಸಿನಿಮಾದ ಮೂಲ ತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಿನಿಮಾದ ತತ್ವ ಮೀಮಾಂಸೆ, ಬೇರೆ ವಿಷಯಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ತುಂಬಾ ವಿಕಸಿತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಿನಿಮಾವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಆದರೆ ಆಳದ ಬಿಂಬವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕನ ಯೋಚನೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಬ್ಬ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಒಂದು ಕಲೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಲ್ಲ ಅದನ್ನು ಯಾಕೆ ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅನ್ನೋದನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಬೇರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹೊಂದಾಣಿuಟಿಜeಜಿiಟಿeಜ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಬೇರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಕೆಟಿಂಗ್ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಯ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

The session was ‘On Cinema’ which had Mr. Girish Kasaravalli and Mr. Gopalkrishna Pai ad the panelists. The event was moderated by Mr. Atun Bhardhwaj.

Girish Kasaravalli is considered one of India’s most talented film directors. In his career of 27 years he has directed 12 Kannada films, earning numerous national and international awards.

Gopalakrishna Pai, is a versatile writer known for his stories, plays, essays, articles, and novels. His novel “Swapna Saraswata” won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 2010. During the session, he released his book “Bimba Bimbana,” which focuses on film discourse.

The speakers highlighted that understanding art requires not only recognising what is being used, but also why it is being used. They pointed out that cinema philosophy is more evolved than many other subjects, and that a director’s use of various mediums should not be limited in order to preserve the desired imagery. This session offered insights into how cinema serves as more than just entertainment, outlining the philosophical depth and artistic intentions behind filmmaking.

Dr. Varada Sambhus, Kshama Naragund and Dr. Sushmita Shetty

A compelling panel discussion titled “Women, Gender, and Society” was held, moderated by Dr. Sushmita Shetty, faculty at the Gandhian Center for Philosophical Arts and Sciences. The distinguished panel featured Dr. Varada Sambhus, an associate professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University and co-editor of Shakti: Women, Gender, and Society in India, and Kshama Naragund, an accomplished advocate with over 15 years of legal experience. The discussion delved into feminism in India, societal perceptions of gender, legal frameworks related to gender issues, and the importance of adopting indigenous perspectives on gender discourse.

Dr. Sushmita Shetty began the session by providing an overview of how gender has historically influenced societal norms and individual identities. She set the stage for a nuanced conversation by highlighting the tension between traditional gender roles and evolving modern perspectives in Indian society.

Dr. Varada Sambhus opened her remarks by discussing the need to bridge the gap between academic feminist discourse and the lived realities of Indian women, particularly those in rural communities. Drawing from her fieldwork, she shared the story of a 70-year-old diabetic woman participating in the Pandharpur Vari pilgrimage. The woman’s journey, driven purely by her personal will and devotion, challenged conventional notions of female agency, demonstrating that grassroots feminism often operates outside formal theoretical frameworks. Dr. Sambhus emphasized that India’s feminist discourse must move beyond binary ideas of gender and autonomy to accommodate these lived realities.

Following this, Kshama Naragund presented her perspective on gender perceptions shaped by legal systems and ancient Indian thought. She critiqued the binary nature of gender in modern legal frameworks, contrasting it with the more fluid understanding found in Indian philosophy. She referenced the Ratri Suktam from the Rig Veda, which portrays the feminine force as a unifying cultural symbol. Naragund underscored the need for a gender discourse rooted in harmony and complementarity, arguing that the Indian philosophical approach offers a more balanced perspective than Western feminism, which often emphasizes conflict.

The discussion then shifted to policy and legal frameworks. Dr. Sushmita Shetty asked Dr. Sambhus about the possibility of integrating various feminist approaches for an Indian context. Dr. Sambhus responded by explaining how Western frameworks often focus on individualism and conflict-driven binaries, while Indian society emphasizes relational identities and societal well-being. She highlighted concepts like Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world as one family) and Purnatva (wholeness), which underscore the interconnectedness of individuals within a social and spiritual context. These principles, she argued, provide a robust foundation for gender discourse in India, encouraging coexistence and respect rather than opposition.

Addressing the legal challenges faced by both genders, Kshama Naragund shared insights from her legal practice. She noted how societal conditioning often results in rigid gender roles, with women being expected to prioritize caregiving and men being seen as primary providers. This imbalance, according to her, is reinforced by existing legal frameworks. She traced the evolution of Section 498A, which was introduced to address dowry harassment but later faced criticism for alleged misuse. While acknowledging the persistent issue of dowry, she pointed out that legal solutions must evolve to reflect changing societal dynamics. Naragund concluded by calling for an indigenous approach to legislation that addresses the needs of both men and women holistically.

In the concluding segment, the panelists discussed questions posed by the audience, focusing on practical solutions for bridging the gap between academic and lived experiences of gender. Dr. Varada Sambhus emphasized the importance of grassroots movements in shaping a more inclusive feminist narrative, while Kshama Naragund advocated for reforms in legal systems to ensure they are more adaptive and responsive to societal changes.

ಮೊದಲು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಡ. ವರದ ಸಂಭೂಸ್, ನಾವು ಆಯ್ಕೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ, ತಾರತಮ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ, ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಲಿಂಗ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ವಿಧಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸುವ ವಿಧಾನದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಚಿಸಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತ ಮುತ್ತ ಸಮಾಜದ ಕೆಲಸವೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ನಮ್ಮ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳು, ಲಿಂಗ ಬೇದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅಂತರವಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಅವರು ಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೆಲಸವು ಆ ಅಂತರವನ್ನು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು.

ತನ್ನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕಾರ್ಯದಿಂದ ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತ, ಪಂಢರಪುರ ವಾರಿ ತೀರ್ಥಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ 70 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಧುಮೇಹ ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಅವರು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕ ಇಚ್ಛೆ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನಡೆಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ, ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸವಾಲು ಮಾಡಿತು, ತಳಮಟ್ಟದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀವಾದವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಔಪಚಾರಿಕ ಸೈದ್ಧಾಂತಿಕ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟುಗಳ ಹೊರಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಡಾ. ಸಂಭುಸ್, ಭಾರತದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀವಾದಿ ಪ್ರವಚನವು ಲಿಂಗ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವಾಯತ್ತತೆಯ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಚಲಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟು ಹೇಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟುನಿಟ್ಟಾದ ಲಿಂಗ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಾ ನರಗುಂದ ಗಮನಿಸಿದರು, ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಆರೈಕೆಗೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪುರುಷರು ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಪೂರೈಕೆದಾರರಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಅಸಮತೋಲನ, ಅವರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಾನೂನು ಚೌಕಟ್ಟುಗಳಿಂದ ಬಲಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ವರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಕಿರುಕುಳವನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸಲು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಲಾದ ಸೆಕ್ಷನ್ 4980 ಯ ವಿಕಾಸವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಪತ್ತೆಹಚ್ಚಿದರು ಆದರೆ ನಂತರ ಆಪಾದಿತ ದುರ್ಬಳಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಟೀಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿದರು. ವರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆಯ ನಿರಂತರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಾಗ, ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಚಲನಶೀಲತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಿಸಲು ಕಾನೂನು ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳು ವಿಕಸನಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸೂಚಿಸಿದರು. ನರಗುಂದ ಅವರು ಪುರುಷ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರ ಅಗತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಗ್ರವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಹರಿಸುವ ಶಾಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ವಿಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆ ನೀಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದರು.

ಈ ಘೋಷ್ಠಿಯು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೋತ್ತರ ಚರ್ಚೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಂಡಿತು.

Dr. Vikram Sampath, Prakash Belawadi and Harsha Shankar Bhat

The third session of the second day was titled ‘Icons of Today- Do’s and Don’ts’, which was a discussion between historian Dr Vikram Sampath and actor and journalist Prakash Belawadi on the launch of the former’s book titled ‘Tipu Sultan- The Saga of Mysore’s Interregnum’, and was moderated by Harsha Shankar Bhat.

Dr Sampath began his speech with his journey of writing. When he was young and saw the show Sword of Tipu Sultan and saw misrepresentation, he wanted to find out the truth and over the next 10 years he went to Mysore during vacations and met the royal family and hsitorians, solely for self knowing. When he realised there was not a single book on the Wodeyar How he began writing- sword of tipu sultan, find out thebtruth of the misrespresentstion. Over next 10 yrears he went mydore meat royal family and historians during holidays, solely self discovery. Realised not a single book was there on the history of the Wodeyars, he wrote his first book.

With regards to his latest book, he said that he had read Tipu’s letters of boasting about the conversion of the citizens into his religion, and when he revealed this at an event (several years back ) in Bangalore, he received several threats. He then said that he wrote a similar article in Deccan Herald which led to more threats, after which his mother told him to promise her that he would never write about Tipu again. Sadly, his mother passed away in 2018, and he said that he wrote this book with 15 years of suppressed emotions and that led to the flow of the writing.

After several questions and discussions between the panellists, the time for the session to end had arrived, but Dr Vikram said that it would be unfair if the audience didn’t get to ask questions and said that he was fine with going over the lunch time if the audience was, and answered a few audience questions as well.

ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಲೇಖಕ, ಅಂಕಣಕಾರ ಡಾ. ವಿಕ್ರಮ್ ಸಂಪತ್ ಅವರು ರಚಿಸಿದ ’ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಸುಲ್ತಾನ್: ದ ಸಾಗಾ ಆಫ್ ಮೈಸೂರ್ಸ್ ಇಂಟರೆಗ್ನಮ್ (1760-1799)- ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಇಂದು ಲೋಕಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಭಾರತ್ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಲಿಟ್ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್‌ನ 7ನೇ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯ ಎರಡನೇ ದಿನದ ಅಧಿವೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೃತಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ನಂತರ ಕೃತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಲೇಖಕರ ಜತೆಗೆ ಸಂವಾದ, ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

ಹರ್ಷಾ ಶಂಕರ್ ಭಟ್ ಈ ಸಂವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು. ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ, ರಂಗಕರ್ಮಿ, ನಟ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಬೆಳವಾಡಿ ಅವರು ಸಂವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಕರಿಸಿದರು.

A poignant moment in the session came when the panel shared the story of Havaldar Hungpan Dada, an Ashoka Chakra awardee, and his wife Chasenlawng Dada. Despite receiving the highest peacetime gallantry award, Chasenlawng and her family continue to struggle with bureaucratic challenges. ಈ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯು ಭಾವನಾ ಅರೋರಾ ಅವರು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ’ ನಾಗ್ರೋಟಾ ಅಂಡರ್ ಸೀಜ್’ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. 2016 ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 29 ರಂದು, ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ನಾಗ್ರೋಟಾ ಸೇನಾ ಶಿಬಿರ ದಾಳಿ ಘಟನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸೇನಾ ನೌಕರರನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡೆವು. ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸನ್ಮಾನ್ಯ ಬ್ರಿಜೇಶ್ ಚೌಟರವರು ಈ ಘೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದವರು.

ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಲೇಖಕಿ ಭಾವನಾ ಅರೋರಾ ಅವರು ನಗ್ರೋಟಾ ದಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಮೇಘನಾ ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಅಂತವರ ತ್ಯಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು ಇಂತಹವರ ಜೀವನವು ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಜನರು ಮುನ್ನಲೆಗೆ ಬರದ ತೆರೆಮರೆಯ ಸಾಧಕರು ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಮತ್ತು ದೈರ್ಯದ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಹೊರಬರುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ವಿಚಾರವನ್ನು ಭಾವನಾ ಅವರು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಂತರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ಲೇಖಕ ಶಿವ್ ಆರೂರ್ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಮೊದಲ 60 ರಿಂದ 70 ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಸೇನೆಯು ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶವು ಯುನೈಟೆಡ್ ಸ್ಟೇಟ್ಸ್‌ನಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಯುದ್ಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹೋರಾಡಿದ ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಸಾಮನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತೀಯರು ಸೇನೆಯ ವಿ?ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಆಸಕ್ತರಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ನೋಡ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಶಿವ್ ಅವರ ಮೊದಲ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಅಧ್ಯಾಯದ ಆಧಾರವಾಗಿ ’ಅಮರನ್’ ಎಂಬ ಚಿತ್ರ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದುದೇ ಚಿತ್ರನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕರಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವಾಯಿತು, ಸೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ಎಂದರೆ ಇವು ಎರಡು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂಬ ಧೋರಣೆ ಇದ್ದಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಜನರಿಗೆ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇನೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ವಿಚಾರ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆದರೂ ಚಿತ್ರವು 500 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ. ಗಳಿಸಿತು, ಹಾಗೂ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಯಾವುದೋ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ಆಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು.

ನಂತರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಮೇಘನಾ ಗಿರೀಶ್ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರ ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಓದಿದ್ದರೆ ಬಹಳ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಪಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಭಾವನಾ ಅರೋರಾ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲೋ ಒಂದು ಕಡೆ ನಷ್ಟ ಅನುಭವಿಸುವುದು ಖಂಡಿತ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಸೇನಾ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಅನುಭವಿಸುವ ನೋವು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಂಬಿತವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ನೆಕ್ಸ್ಟ್ ಟು ಕಿನ್ (NOK) ನೀತಿ, ಇದು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣತೆಯನ್ನು ಗಮನದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಜಾರಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.

ಶಿವ ಆರೂರ್ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೃತಿಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಕೇವಲ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ನೀಡುವುದು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಸೈನಿಕರ ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವುದೇ ಎಂದು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಘೋಷ್ಠಿಯು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೋತ್ತರ ಚರ್ಚೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಘೋಷ್ಠಿಯ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾಗಿ ಸುರಭಿ ಹೊಡಿಗೇರ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಹನಾ ವಿಜಯಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಕನ್ನಡದ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಲೇಖಕರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಕೃತಿಗಳು ಹಿಂದಿ, ಮರಾಠಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವಾರು ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಅವರ ಎರಡನೇ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ’ಕಶೀರ’. ಅದರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಿಂದ ಬಹುಮಾನ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ಐದು ಬಾರಿ ಮುದ್ರಣವಾಗಿದೆ.‌

ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಭಾರತ್ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಮೈಥಿಕ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯ ಸಂಯೋಗದಿಂದ ನಡೆದ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಉತ್ಸವದ 7ನೇ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ’ಮಾಗಧ ’ ಎಂಬ ಅವರ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಅಶೋಕನ ಬಾಳಿನ ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿದಂತೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರೂಪುಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ, ಅಶೋಕನ ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿ ಇದರ ವರ್ತನೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದರಿಂದ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಧಿಕೃತತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅರ್ಥಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ತತ್ವಗಳು ಕೂಡ ಈ ಕಥನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗಿವೆ. ಈ ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಕೇವಲ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಅಥವಾ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ವಿಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಜೋಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅದು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಮಹತ್ವಪೂರ್ಣ ಘಟನೆಯನ್ನು, ಅಶೋಕನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ಒಳಹೊರಗಿನ ಶೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಹಾಗೂ ತಾತ್ವಿಕವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Release of Sahana Vijaykumar’s latest novel, ‘Magadha’

The second day of 7th edition of Mangaluru Lit Fest 2024 was on 12 January 2024 at TMA Pai Hall, Mangaluru which was organised by Bharath Foundation in collaboration with Mythic Society, setting the stage for a vibrant celebration of literature and ideas. The second session saw the release of Sahana Vijaykumar’s latest novel, ‘Magadha’ which is an artistic narrative and philosophical exploration that examines both the inner and outer aspects of a renowned emperor from different perspectives during a much-discussed period in the life of Priyadarshi Ashoka.

Sahana Vijaykumar has established herself as a distinctive Kannada author. Her works have been published in several languages, including Hindi, Marathi, and English. Her second novel, ‘Kasheera,’ which is set in Kashmir, has received significant praise since its release and has been printed five times.

‘Magadha’ is primarily based on Ashoka’s religious edicts, it emphasises authenticity. It also makes meaningful references to Arthashastra. The discussion also focused on the author’s dedication to extensive background research that has contributed to the authenticity and depth of her narratives, giving the readers insights into her creative process and the careful research that supports her storytelling.
