No End to Terrorism Due to China and US Support for Pakistan: Dr. Sreeram Chaulia
Thinker opines that India must be prepared for more bloodshed.
“No matter how much India tries to control terrorist activities, they will continue since Pakistan enjoys the support of America and China. We must be prepared for more bloodshed,” said Professor Dr. Sreeram Sundar Chaulia.
Speaking on India’s global relations at the eighth edition of the Mangalore Lit Fest, he stated: “Many expressed regret that ‘Operation Sindhoora’ should have been continued further and not stopped halfway. However, our intention was not to wage war; it was to give a fitting reply to terrorism. We needed to send a message that we will not remain silent if provoked. We have executed that task perfectly.”
“Despite this, terrorist activities will recur. No matter how much we try to prevent them, more bloodshed and tragedies will occur in the coming days because Pakistan enjoys the support of the US and China. We need to be more prepared for such bloodshed in the future,” he added.
“Powerful nations are destroying the global system,” Dr. Chaulia remarked, noting that the collapse of international order has become evident in recent years. “The Russia-Ukraine war has been ongoing for three years, causing massive loss of life, yet it hasn’t stopped. Then came the conflict between Israel and Iran. Now, the US has attacked Venezuela in a different manner. It has reached a point where whatever the powerful do is considered right. The ‘Law of the Jungle’ is being enforced, and the weak are left with no security. Big fish are eating the small fish. Imperialist behavior is on the rise. We must stay away from all this and focus on development. We must avoid war and instead increase our global influence,” he said.
India Standing Firm Against Pressure
Speaking at the event, T.S. Tirumurti, former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said, “Despite numerous challenges, we have grown to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. We have maintained our sovereignty despite significant pressure from the United States. Many countries have succumbed to such pressure, bowing down out of fear that they might lose various privileges. However, India has not yielded to any pressure. While the US threatens other nations to force them to accept its perspective, India has tactfully navigated these situations and remains focused on growth.”

‘ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದನೆ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸಲು ಭಾರತ ಅದೆಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಪಟ್ಟರೂ, ಅದು ಮುಂದುವರೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ ಮತ್ತು ಚೀನಾದ ಬೆಂಬಲವಿದೆ. ನಾವು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ರಕ್ತಪಾತಕ್ಕೆ ತಯಾರಾಗಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರೊಫೆಸರ್ ಡಾ. ಶ್ರೀರಾಮ್ ಸುಂದರ್ ಚೌಲಿಯಾ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಲಿಟ್ ಫೆಸ್ಟ್ನ ಎಂಟನೇ ಆವೃತ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳ ಕುರಿತಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ‘ಆಪರೇಷನ್ ಸಿಂಧೂರವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಮುಂದುವರೆಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು, ಅರ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಬಾರದಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಹಲವರು ಬೇಸರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಮ್ಮ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚೋದಿಸಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶ ರವಾನಿಸಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಆದರೂ ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮರುಕಳಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ನಾವೆಷ್ಟೇ ತಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ರಕ್ತಪಾತಗಳು, ದುರಂತಗಳು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ ಮತ್ತು ಚೀನಾದ ಬೆಂಬಲವಿದೆ. ಅಂತಹ ರಕ್ತಪಾತಗಳಿಗೆ ನಾವು ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ತಯಾರಾಗಬೇಕಿದೆ’ ಎಂದರು.
‘ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ದೇಶಗಳು ಒಂದು ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದ ಅವರು, ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದಿತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಕುಸಿಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ರಷ್ಯಾ-ಉಕ್ರೇನ್ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅದರಿಂದ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಾಣಹಾನಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದರೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಿಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ನಂತರ ಇಸ್ರೇಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇರಾನ್ ನಡುವೆ ಕದನವಾಯಿತು. ಈಗ ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ, ವೆನೆಜುವೆಲಾ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೇರೆ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಳಿ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರು ಏನು ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಸರಿ ಎನ್ನುವಂತಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಾಡಿನ ನೀತಿ ಜಾರಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ದುರ್ಬಲರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವಂತಾಗಿದೆ. ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮೀನುಗಳು ಸಣ್ಣ ಮೀನುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯಶಾಹಿ ವರ್ಷನೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ನಾವು ಇದೆಲ್ಲದರಿಂದ ದೂರ ಉಳಿದು ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯತ್ತ ಗಮನಹರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಭಾವವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದರು.
ಭಾರತ ಹಲವು ಒತ್ತಡಗಳ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ
ವಿಶ್ವಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಖಾಯಂ ರಾಯಭಾರಿ ಟಿ.ಎಸ್. ತಿರುಮೂರ್ತಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘ನಾವು ಇಂದು ಹಲವು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಅಮೇರಿಕಾದ ಹಲವು ಒತ್ತಡಗಳ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ದೇಶಗಳು ಒತ್ತಡ ತಾಳಲಾರದೆ ಮಣಿದಿವೆ. ತಮಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಲವು ಸವಲತ್ತುಗಳು ತಪ್ಪಬಹುದು ಎಂಬ ಭಯದಿಂದ ತಲೆ ಬಾಗಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಭಾರತ ಮಾತ್ರ ಯಾವುದೇ ಒತ್ತಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಗ್ಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಮೇರಿಕಾ ಬೇರೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆದರಿಕೆ ಹಾಕಿ ತಮ್ಮ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಭಾರತ ಮಾತ್ರ ಚಾತುರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯತ್ತ ಗಮನಹರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ’ ಎಂದರು.
