“In Karnataka, music is primarily viewed through the background of Sandalwood (the Kannada film industry). However, it is not like that elsewhere. Across India, the band culture is quite popular. Currently, if I sing a song, the importance is often given to which hero I sang for. We are seeing slight changes now as the band culture gains popularity, but it will take more time for a significant shift,” said singer Vishwanath Haveri.
Speaking at the session titled ‘Yuva Dhwanigalu’ (Young Voices), young songwriter Mandira, who has penned over 300 songs, said, “I started writing at the age of 12. My mother introduced me to music. I have been writing stories and songs ever since. I write based on my emotions; I don’t overthink while writing, I simply record my feelings. I revisit the writing later. Even as I write, I visualize how the song might eventually look and feel.”
Young writer Srijani Mitra said, “My literature emerges from the effort to understand the diverse cultures of India and the essence of Indianness.”
Another young writer, Aanika Gajendragad, said, “I love creative writing. I felt I had to bring my imagination out in the form of literature; there was no other way. That is why I started writing and began creating a world of my own. I have decided to pursue writing as my professional career.”

‘ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾಗಿ ಸಂಗೀತವನ್ನು ಸ್ಯಾಂಡಲ್ ವುಡ್ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಕಡೆ ಹಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಭಾರತದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈಗ ನಾನು ಹಾಡು ಹಾಡಿದರೆ ಯಾವ ಹೀರೋಗೆ ಹಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಅನ್ನುವುದು ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಈಗೀಗ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಬ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಕೂಡ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯ ಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಗಾಯಕ ವಿಶ್ವನಾಥ ಹಾವೇರಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
‘ಯುವ ಧ್ವನಿಗಳು’ ಎಂಬ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. 300ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಗೀತರಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಯುವ ಗೀತರಚನಕಾರ್ತಿ ಮಂದಿರಾ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘12ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಬರೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಅಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗೀತಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ನಾನು ಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಾಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಭಾವನೆಗಳ ಆಧಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಬರೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಬರೆಯುವಾಗ ಯೋಚಿಸಲ್ಲ, ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಖಲಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಬರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಮರುಭೇಟಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಬರೆಯುವಾಗಲೇ ನಾನು ಹಾಡು ಹೇಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಕಲ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಯುವ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಶ್ರೀಜನಿ ಮಿತ್ರಾ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘ಭಾರತದ ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳು, ಭಾರತೀಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮೂಡಿಬರುತ್ತದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಯುವ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಆನಿಕಾ ಗಜೇಂದ್ರಗಡ್ ಅವರು, ‘ಸೃಜನಶೀಲ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ನನಗಿಷ್ಟ. ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಾನು ಹೊರತರಬೇಕು, ಬೇರೆ ದಾರಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದೆ. ನನ್ನದೇ ಜಗತ್ತು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಲು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ನಾನು ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನೇ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಜೀವನವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ವಿಷ್ಣುಧರನ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
